It’s all about perspective
There are opportunities all around us and it’s up to us to change the way we see things. Searching for the positive. Always learning, always growing.
There are so many things we are expected to learn in school, but they never teach you the most important things that will help you navigate the world of life. They always tell you to get good grades, graduate from college, get a good job, achieve wealth and success. It’s not that simple. We need to build a foundation for this growth so we can stand on our own. Based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, if we don’t cover the basics we won’t get to the top levels of achievement. I don’t remember any classes growing up teaching me these skills. There was no home ec or auto shop. I did the best with what I was taught, but I made mistakes. There was no plan for the unexpected. I am still learning. We can figure this out together.
the journey…
Our family is about to embark on a new chapter. My oldest is getting ready to go to college… with early graduation. He has always wanted to do so many things and learn everything I know, but with him leaving early and the constant navigation of life’s hurdles, I am ultimately unprepared to share the things he wants to know before he actually leaves.

We are keeping this journal of the things we experience from here on out. I am starting from the beginning, covering the basic needs and moving on up. These are the letters I write to my sons, lessons and experiments of life that will help to reach our ultimate goals and find a balance worth living.
